Cheshire Wire Green 19 – 90 U16 Yellow
A good opening cup match for the U16 Phoenix Yellow squad away against Cheshire Wire Green.
The Phoenix squad started briskly and opened up a 20-1 lead in the first quarter. This was down to some superb defence ensuring the opposition didn’t have a chance to settle. This then led to many turn overs and some great offensive plays.
The half ended 52-4
The second half of the game continued in much the same vein as the first. Much more sharing of the ball and shifting defence before making cuts to the basket.
The game ended 90-19. A convincing win to see the squad through to the next round. It was good to see the team grow in confidence, running plays effectively. Special mentions to Ashton and Ben who took 30 and 27 points respectively. Also to Harry returning from injury and taking a strong 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Still plenty to focus on in training before we take on St Helens Saints in our first league game this coming
