Cheshire Wire White 59 – 61 U18
The Phoenix started the game strong taking the lead early to race into a 6 point lead after the first quarter after smart play offensively. The second unit extended the lead before a run from Cheshire wire cut the lead to 10 at half time. Another strong finish to the 3rd quarter behind aggressive finishing in transition allowed the Phoenix to carry a 15 point lead going into the 4th. A slow first few minutes to the 4th quarter brought Wire back into the game as Phoenix missed open shots, and Wire executed to cut the lead. With momentum on Wire’s side they tied the game and had possession with 14 seconds left. A steal and a layup on the buzzer from Matesse carried the Phoenix to a great win away from home.
