Preston 51 – 59 U14C
Phoenix started well against a determined Preston side, and quickly took a 10 point lead, though the opposition improved their defense and got some quick points on the board, with the quarter finishing 14-9 to Phoenix.
The second quarter was tightly contested, with neither side able to assert any dominance, and the overall score at half time was close, ending 27-23 to Phoenix.
Preston started the 3rd quarter with lots of energy and determination, and made it tough for Phoenix to maintain any offensive rythym. Phoenix worked hard, though for the second successive quarter they were being outscored by their opponent. With a minute to go, Phoneix were challenged to score one more basket, and concede no more. They duly obliged, with the 3rd quarter finishing 39-37 to Preston.
Phoenix entered the fourth quarter challenged with regaining the lead early, with an emphasis on moving the ball quickly and feeding it to the big men. They responded well, and combined with some excellent shooting, managed to regain the lead and hold onto it. Preston tried their best to close the gap, though 22 points from Phoenix in the quarter was too much for them. Final score was 59-51 to Phoenix
