U16 Yellow 65 – 93 Toxteth El8te
Despite the 28 point difference at the end of the game, this was a stand out performance for the U16 Yellow squad running short on the bench with only 8 players to rotate.
The first quarter saw both teams scoring quickly with lots of outside shots being successfully made. The Phoenix team defended well and really showed great composure – sharing the ball well and waiting for a route to basket or an open look outside the arc. At the end of a well fought first Q the Phoenix team were up 3 points – 24-21.
The second quarter continued in much the same way with Max finding his range and knocking down some big three pointers. Toxteth replied well and we went to the dressing rooms 41-34 – seven down but all to play for.
In the third quarter the Phoenix team worked hard at both ends – defending hard and running the floor. Toxteth took the quarter 29-22. (70-56)
The final quarter saw the Phoenix squad work hard to the end but a short bench and some foul trouble meant that the visitors secured the win 93-65.
A superb team effort with lots of energy and sharing of the ball. Special mention to Max with 12 personal points all 3’s!
