St Helens Saints 93 – 41 U16 Yellow
A 93-41 loss away to St Helens in our final game of 2023.
Both teams started off as expected from the tip off – lots of hustle and high energy at both ends.
In the first quarter St Helens pulled away by a clear 10 points which the visiting Phoenix team struggled to match. Despite some good offensive moves the ball didn’t seem to be dropping in favourably for the U16 Yellow squad. At the end of the quarter St Helens had opened up a 23 to 7 Lead.
In the second quarter the visiting team switched on more in defence and limited scoring for the St Helens squad who came out looking to capitalise on their early lead. The half ended 40 to 24 – the Phoenix team pulling back a little.
At the start of the third quarter the U16 Yellow squad had a run of points which forced a St Helens early time out. They adjusted and slowed down the Phoenix run of points.
The final quarter saw the St Helens team continue to add points to their tally with some reply from the Phoenix squad. Lots to learn from the game and take forward for future meet ups.
