I was delighted take delivery of 70 bespoke Noggin Beanies this week, just in time for Christmas!
A while ago, I spotted the Noggin website on social media and clicked through as I really liked the look of the hat designs initially. However, on further reading I found out more about Noggin and their commitment through the company to promote and support mental health through sports and more widely.
Their website front page says it all really;
‘We’re Noggin Sport, two brothers who are dedicated to raising awareness of mental health in sport.
We are a Community Interest Company, where the profits we make go straight into supporting mental health awareness projects across the UK & Ireland.’
I signed up for a mock up of a beanie hat for our club and loved the design. A quick poll on SPOND and many agreed with me and the mental health aspect resonated too.
Personally, playing basketball at the community adult session and supporting the club as Team Manager and Vice Chair helps with my mental health and well being. I enjoy design and using my skills to support the club on social media; which in turn helps my mental health too.
As a club, we develop our community with links to other clubs, the pro team and the wider communities in which we train and develop in. That community plays a vital part in promoting and supporting all of the members mental health and well being. It’s important that our club puts this at the forefront of our ethos. It’s great that so many players, coaches, team managers, members of the committee and parents have bought a Noggin Beanie to recognise and support the many mental health charities that Noggin support.
As Logan from the U12s so eloquently puts it;
‘Mental health is really important. Having poor mental health can make your mind and body feel really unwell, so it’s important to look after it. Playing basketball with my team at Cheshire Phoenix Juniors makes me feel good. It keeps me active, which is good for my mental health. I have the best team mates and coaches’
So, if you see a Noggin Sport Beanie on someone’s Noggin, thank them for their support of mental health and for helping to promote our fantastic club; Cheshire Phoenix Juniors.
