U14R 60 – 38 Congleton Grizzlies Black
U14R returned to the court after having a 6 week break away from games and the first quarter of the game really showed that there were some cobwebs that needed to be blown off. Congleton edged ahead gradually through out the first quarter and into the second taking a 16-22 lead by the 12th minute of the game.
The coach made some changes with 8 minutes left until half time and really got the U14R team playing the way we know they can and playing as a team rather than individuals. The young Phoenix team went on a 21-0 run to take the lead into half time 37-22.
The second half continued in the same vein with U14R extending their lead during the 3rd quarter, playing the same great style of basketball we have come to know from this team, taking the 3rd quarter 18-4 and overall 55-26.
The last quarter the Phoenix team took their foot off the gas a little bit as Congleton reduced the deficit to 22 points at the end of the game. After a wobbly start this was an encouraging performance going into a really tough run of games to the end of the season.
U14R take this on 60-38 and go to 6-2 for the season.
