Cheshire Wire 54 – 65 U12
For the second time this season, Phoenix lined up against a strong Cheshire Wire squad. Phoenix got off to a nervous start with Wire taking an early lead. After composing themselves, the team dug deep to pull back but still went in 14-12 down after the 1st.
Phoenix came out into the 2nd with more confidence and began piecing together some strong offensive play. Strong defensive work led to a fast break layup, which was the turning point in the quarter. They continued to maximise their fast break options and attacked the basket. Phoenix went into the half time break 37-28 to the good! What a quarter!
The third started well with some strong defensive play meaning Wire were forced to turnover the ball and make mistakes. Phoenix stayed strong and worked hard to maintain their points advantage. Wire pressed high up the court in the fourth, to try and force the turnover but Phoenix were able to transition well between defence and attack. They moved the ball easily and benefitted from good, fast passes to ensure the baskets didn’t stop. Phoenix take home the Win 65-54!
