St Helens Saints II 62 – 79 U16 White
St Helens started off strong scoring some good baskets. Our defence needed to be tighter to put them under pressure, and we soon started to put that in place.
20/16 to Phoenix at end of first quarter.
2nd quarter St Helens start with a 3 pointer.
Phoenix make some sloppy passing and st Helen’s score a second 3.
Coach made some changes and the team start to play stronger team basketball with better defence, some good hustling, and a great 3.
End of 2nd quarter Phoenix up 46/36
3rd quarter started with Phoenix running their plays well and consistently making their baskets. We give points away with fouls. On 5 team fouls with 4 mins to go but we keep our well deserved lead at the end of the 3rd. 66/47
4th quarter, once again, saw some good team basketball. However we continue to foul, giving away easy points. With a minute to go we play our last burst of energy and manage to sustain our lead, winning 79/62.
