Stockport Falcons 59 – 70 U14R
U14R made their last away trip of the season over to Stockport knowing they were going to be in for a tough game.
The first 5 mins were as tight as expected with the two teams trading baskets, but as the quarter moved on U14R stretched into a 7 point lead at the break.
The second quarter was rife with turnovers from the Phoenix team and these were capitalised on well by Stockport meaning that at half time Phoenix’s lead had been cut to 3 points.
The third quarter followed a similar vein to that of the second with Phoenix making errors across the court and turning the ball over a lot, credit needs to be given to the Stockport team here as the pressure they exerted on Phoenix during this 10 minute portion of the game was excellent and created the mistakes by U14R.
The final quarter came and the Phoenix team started to put together some really good basketball, going on a 19-0 run to create a good gap to the Falcons which Phoenix were able to see out to the end despite Stockport coming back at them in the final couple of minutes to leave a final score of 59-70.
All in all a good physical game of basketball that will stand players of both teams in good stead coming to the end of the regular season and into the playoffs.
