U11 Meteorites 42 – 43 Bridgewater Jets Lions
The Bridgewater Jets Lions edged out a narrow 43-42 victory over the Cheshire Phoenix Meteorites in an exciting junior basketball game on Saturday.
The Meteorites got off to a flying start, showcasing some crisp passing and teamwork. However, the Lions responded well, and after 10 minutes, the scores were tied at 14-14, demonstrating the even nature of the contest.
The first half continued to be a see-saw affair, with some impressive shooting displays from the Meteorites’ players putting them in good stead against a determined Lions side.
The second half saw a significant shift in momentum. Both teams displayed much more resolute defending, making scoring opportunities a rarity. This defensive pressure resulted in a much lower-scoring second period compared to the opening half.
The final minute was a nail-biter. The lead switched hands three times in quick succession, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seats. The Meteorites called a timeout to devise a final play, but the Lions held firm to secure a hard-fought one-point victory.
