Warrington Wildcats Jaguars 40 – 24 U11 Heat
In what was likely to be Heat’s last game together, they faced last season league winners, the Warrington Wildcats Jaguars.
In a tight first half the tenacious Heat kept pace with the Jaguars, with never more than a couple of points separating the two teams and Heat edged into a slender 14-16 lead with 5 minutes to go. A couple of shots failed to drop for them in the final minute, which meant they went into half time trailing by 5, with the score at 21-16.
The second half started as close as the first and after ten minutes there was still only a five point gap between the teams. But then Jaguars managed to break the deadlock and, with time running out, Heat struggled to maintain their earlier composure as they tried to get back into the game. This allowed the Jaguars to take advantage and move out of reach. The game ended 40-24 and, because of a conflicting regional game next week, most likely marks the end of a season for Heat that began with total dominance of Division 1 and ended with an incredible opportunity to learn and develop against older players in the Premier League. These players can look forward to an exciting, winter, ball hall season in which they will now be the oldest players on the league. Bring it on!
