Manchester Giants 10 – 96 U11
In their first regional fixture of the season, Cheshire Phoenix U11 visited Manchester Giants. Any pre-season nerves were soon settled as it became clear, straight from the tip, that this was going to be a one-sided encounter.
Phoenix came flying out of the blocks, smothering their opponent’s attacks with the same tenacious defence they learned during a tough summer season, playing against older teams. In possession, they mounted wave after wave of incisive attacks, and were able to score at will.
Credit must be given to the Giants team, who had some younger players in their side and who, as a team, kept their heads up and kept competing until the end. But the regional season couldn’t have got off to a better start for the Phoenix U11s, who have some exciting months ahead of them.
