U16 Yellow 82 – 23 Preston
Cheshire Phoenix U16 Yellow hosted Preston in our first home game of the new season at EPSV in Saturdays late tip off.
Following on from last weeks comprehensive away win, Phoenix wanted to keep the momentum going. The boys started the game strongly, particularly aggressive in defence, transitioning into the fast break. Preston found it difficult to contain and respond as we powered to a 23-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Quarter 2 and Quarter 3 followed in the same pattern (Q2 22-4 and Q3 20-4 ) The last quarter was not as consistent and perhaps a lesson in not becoming too complacent.
Although we won the quarter 17-10 we allowed Preston to double their previous quarters average score. The game day squad was well rotated with everyone getting good game time and all on the score sheet.
The final score was 82-23. We can only be happy with two games, two big wins.
